Windsor MP Welcomes the Early End to Flightpath Trials
Adam Afriyie, the MP for Windsor, has praised local residents for their victory in ending the Heathrow flight paths trials ahead of schedule.
Following the news that Heathrow is planning to end its flight path trials over Ascot, Windsor and Binfield ahead of schedule, Mr Afriyie emphasised that the fight was not over and that all residents must make their voices heard to ensure that the Windsor constituency would not be affected by flight path trials or the proposed Third Runway.
Adam Afriyie said:
"It’s a relief for me, and I’m sure for other Windsor residents, to hear that the Heathrow’s flight path trials will be coming to an end earlier than planned, on the 12th November.
“It’s a victory for common sense and for the many constituents who have been left angry and frustrated by these trials.
“But the fight is not over. This is a worrying sign of things to come if Heathrow succeeds with its plan for a Third Runway. Many areas of the constituency, which have until now been free from noise pollution, will be blighted by aircraft frequently flying overhead if Heathrow gets its way. Heathrow must listen to residents before it goes ahead with any future trials.
“The public meeting at Ascot Racecourse Pavilion on the 13th October at 7pm will still go ahead. Representatives from Heathrow will be in attendance and I, along with many other Windsor residents, will have the opportunity to question them about Heathrow’s plans. I hope as many residents as possible will be there to voice their feelings about the recent flight path trials.”
