Windsor MP Believes Government Can be Forced into Heathrow U-Turn

In a cross-party effort to keep up the pressure on the Government over their Heathrow Expansion plans, Windsor MP, Adam Afriyie, met this week with other Members of Parliament, Peers and environmental lobbyists to plan the next stage of their united campaign.

Following the meeting Adam Afriyie MP said:

“I am encouraged that Project Heathrow Watch meetings continue to focus our cross party campaigns in Parliament.

“We have made it clear that the third runway will not go ahead with a Conservative Government, but we will invest instead in cleaner and more efficient high speed rail.

“It’s great that MPs of all parties are supporting this fight and I once again urge the Government to put their plans on hold especially given the economic downturn.

“I believe it is quite possible that the Government will be forced into a u-turn which will benefit residents under flight paths and the UK economy.

“Following the Government’s recent announcement about Stansted expansion, it is vital that we continue to keep the pressure up, before the result of the Adding Capacity Consultation is announced.
