Broadband Speed in the Constituency

Over the past few years, as more people have started to work from home, a number of constituents have contacted me to raise the issue of internet speed and connectivity. This is clearly an issue of huge importance which can drastically impact people’s ability to carry out work from their homes, as well as hindering children in their education.

I know that the Government has committed £5billion to solving this issue of which £1.2billion has been allocated and I am glad that this issue is being taken seriously. I will continue to push for funding and resources to be allocated to our area.

When constituents have written to me on the matter, I have gone to the Minister to raise their individual cases, and yesterday I wrote to the Secretary of State to further press the issue in light of new data from the House of Commons’ Library service.
