Adam Afriyie Welcomes Tax Cuts for 41,531 Windsor Residents

Adam Afriyie MP has welcomed the Conservative-led Coalition's announcement that it will cut income tax for 41,531 people in Windsor in April 2013. 1,681 Windsor residents will be lifted out of paying income tax altogether in April next year.

In April 2013, the Coalition Government will increase the personal allowance to £9,440, benefiting 24 million people nationwide. 2.2 million people will be taken out of income tax altogether.

Mr Afriyie commented:

"I am delighted that the Conservative-Government is helping people who work hard and want to get on in life. It is only right that people should keep more of the money they earn, especially those on lower incomes.

"Income tax has been cut for 24 million people – a tax cut of about £593 a year for most basic-rate taxpayers has got to be a good thing especially when it helps more than 41,000 Windsor residents, and lifts about 1,700 out of paying income tax altogether.

"This is undoubtedly good news, but there is a great deal more to do to make life easier for hard-working families and businesses in these difficult economic times."
