MP Appeals for Calm
06-Oct-06, Press Release.
Following several nights of disturbances in the
Dedworth area, Windsor MP Adam Afriyie has called for
calm.
Speaking about the disturbances around the Medina Dairy,
Mr Afriyie commented:
"Windsor is an attractive and peaceful town which has,
sadly and surprisingly, experienced a few days of
disturbance involving a handful of teenagers in the Dedworth
area.
"Having been on the doorsteps on many occasions over the
last few weeks, months and years, my greatest concern is for
the law-abiding residents of Dedworth who have had their
lives temporarily interrupted.
"Having been in contact with local residents, councillors
and Police Chief Superintendent Brian Langston, we are
united in our appeal for calm and I am pleased that the
situation has quietened down somewhat.
"There has been some concern from local residents about
noise from the dairy, and some concern from workers about
noisy abuse from local youths and I have urged the police to
take firm action against those who break the law, no matter
who they are.
"Whatever the mixture of causes, the issue is one of
anti-social behaviour, which cannot be allowed to continue
in Dedworth or anywhere else in the constituency.
"Now is the time to unite against anyone who wants to
stir up the situation or cause further disturbance or acts
of vandalism"
