MP supports Autism Bill and continues to raise awareness of
the condition
Friday 6th
March 2009
Windsor MP
Adam Afriyie has shown his support for those with autism
once again, by voting for the recent Autism Bill in
Parliament. The Bill, which passed by a majority of 106
votes, aims to
combat the
deficiencies of Autism Service Provision including the lack
of local information about children and young people with
autism and the failure of local agencies to include their
needs in the planning of services.
Mr Afriyie has
been very active on the issue for several years, even
re-arranging his diary commitments to attend the second
reading of the Bill last week.
Speaking
recently, Mr Afriyie said:
‘With people
close to me and many constituents affected by autism, I feel
very strongly about the issue and am therefore by last weeks
result.
Yet this is
just the start of combating the shortfalls of autism service
provision and I will continue to raise awareness of the
issue both in Parliament and the constituency. By working
together we can help improve the quality of life of those
with autism.’
