Windsor Winter
Wonderland
16-Feb-07, Windsor Express
Article.
Winter Wonderland came to Windsor last week as a
blanket of snow descended. From my front window, The
Great Park looked like a scene from a Christmas card as
children played, watched over by newly created snowmen!
It always makes me smile when I see youngsters enjoying
themselves in the snow and, when schools made the
decision to close early or for the day, I can imagine
the delighted reaction of pupils.
Others, however, did not have it so easy. Rail
commuters, who have a difficult enough journey under
normal circumstances, were subject to yet more delays,
and the snow made for hazardous driving conditions
across the constituency.
With extremes of weather experienced more often, and
unusual weather conditions frequently making headlines,
the climate is regularly focused upon as the media,
commentators and political parties debate the extent to
which CO2 emissions and global warming are responsible
for these changes. David Cameron has certainly led the
debate by pushing climate change and the environment to
the top of political agenda, and it is heartening to see
just how many people are concerned enough to engage with
the subject.
It is of course important not to underestimate the
challenges we face, but just for a few days, it was
great to enjoy our very own Windsor Winter Wonderland!. |
I

People are happier
when making their own decisions.
Business is the
engine of the economy that generates our jobs, incomes and
taxes.
Government should
not interfere in our lives beyond protecting and defending
us.
