Windsor Allotments
25-Aug-06, Windsor Express
Article.
As a graduate in Agricultural Economics it was a
pleasure to visit the Windsor Allotments behind the
Gardeners Hall last Saturday. I enjoyed the sunny
afternoon outdoors with the family as we marvelled at
all sorts of bizarrely inflated prize-winning marrows,
pumpkins and potatoes.
The interest in allotments has grown over the last
decade. No longer are they characterised as places for men
to "get away from the Missus"! But have become thriving
gardens allowing men and women of all ages to grow their own
fresh food and enjoy a little greenery and family time in
the process.
I must thank the president and the dedicated organisers
and growers for the eye-opening invitation. It was good to
have a proper walk around the allotments as opposed to
hastily peering over the fence whilst hurrying between
various engagements around the constituency!
There is certainly more to life than processed food and
it's encouraging that so many people are taking an active
interest. |

People are happier
when making their own decisions.
Business is the
engine of the economy that generates our jobs, incomes and
taxes.
Government should
not interfere in our lives beyond protecting and defending
us.
