Resolution in
Remembrance
10-Nov-06, Windsor Express
Article.
Remembrance Day often carries a deeply personal
meaning alongside a sense of national pride and
thanksgiving.
For many of us it is a day to reflect on the contribution
made by family members who served in the British armed
forces during the Second World War. The dedication to duty
shown by our military and civilian personnel in the name of
freedom and democracy must never be underestimated by those
of us who cherish our liberty and the threat that we were
forced to repel at that time.
Yet two world wars have been followed by bloodshed in
conflicts across the globe and our troops have often been
involved in preventing genocide, as hatred and intolerance
have bred violence against specific groups within national
borders. It is sobering to note that Remembrance Day is also
a day of reflection that unites people across the globe of
all ages and backgrounds and various nationalities, who
joined with us in defending our way of life from tyranny.
As we gather for services both in Windsor and across the
country, I hope that those who seek to stir up hatred and
violence today will be prompted to reflect upon the
consequences of their actions. They should also remember
that we are a resolute people in the defence of our way of
life. |

I
believe...
People are happier when making their own decisions.
Business is the engine of the economy that generates our
jobs, incomes and taxes.
Government should not interfere in our lives beyond
protecting and defending us.
