Record-Breaking
Weather & LibDem Debt
01-Sep-06, Windsor Express
Article.
This July was the hottest ever recorded in this
country. Most of us cannot fail to have felt just how
hot it was and although the record for highest ever
temperature was not quite broken, the month as a whole
was hotter than ever. Now though, it seems that we have
reverted back to typical British weather – sunny periods
interspersed with showers!
It is perhaps an indicator of the winter that we are to
have this year. Each year we hear terrible stories of
pensioners unable to heat their homes sufficiently to ward
off the cold, and with utility bills and council tax rising
ever higher, it is a worrying time for many families.
Of course, matters are not helped by the Royal Borough of
Windsor and Maidenhead’s financial record. Since taking
power the LibDem council have run up an extra £20 million of
debt – that’s about £370 for every household in the borough.
At some stage this debt is going to have to be paid back and
it is council tax paying residents who will feel the pinch. |

Government should
not interfere in our lives beyond protecting and defending
us.
