A New Mayor for the
Royal Borough
01-Jun-07, Windsor Express
Article.
On Sunday I attended the Mayor’s
Civic Service to welcome the Mayor
into his new role. Councillor Leo
Walters has taken on the role of
Mayor for the second time, having
previously served as Mayor from
2002-2003.
Councillor Walters is the Royal
Borough’s longest serving
councillor, having first been
elected as a Parish Councillor in
Bray 40 years ago! I was pleased to
hear
that one of his priorities will be
promoting the voluntary sector in
our area. Often, where the state
has failed to provide for some of
the most vulnerable people in our
society, the
voluntary
sector takes up the slack. So we
are certainly fortunate in Windsor
to have such a wide range of
voluntary organisations ranging from
hospices and carers’ support groups
to educational and animal welfare
charities and I look forward to
working with the Councillor Walters
to assist our local charities in the
fantastic work that they do.
It is good to see a change in
leadership in the Royal Borough and
I look forward
to working with the Mayor and
councillors for the benefit of local
residents.

People are happier
when making their own decisions.
Business is the
engine of the economy that generates our jobs, incomes and
taxes.
Government should
not interfere in our lives beyond protecting and defending
us.
